The Idiot on Sunday. Water flushing in Romania.

Texts by Mircea Cărtărescu and Barbi Marković from a reading at GRENZGÄNGER/GRENZDENKER

„Schwankend wie Rimbauds trunkenes Schiff” (Swaying like Rimbaud’s drunken ship). This was  the title of a talk hosted by Martin Pollack on 16 November 2017. Mircea Cărtărescu and Barbi Marković joined him within the series “Grenzgänger / Grenzdenker” at the Kasino am Schwarzenberg in Vienna.

Previously, the actors Philipp Hauß and Marie-Luise Stockinger read from the German editions of the novel Ausgehen by Barbi Marković and of Mircea Cărtărescu’s book Die schönen Fremden.

For all those who could not attend this evening and who are able to read in German we publish at this point excerpts from both works, edited for the reading by Rita Czapka. Please, switch to the German version of this article.

Here you can also find an interview of Florian Hirsch with Barbi Marković (in English!).
