Denník N
The daily Denník N (the N stands for nezávislý – independent) is the first Slovak online magazine that generates its income mainly through subscriptions. This gives the editorial team financial and journalistic independence from political and economic interests. Project N was founded in 2014 by journalists from the daily SME who did not agree with the Penta financial group’s entry into the ownership structure of Petit Press, the publisher of SME. Denník N deals with the real problems of Slovakia and researches corruption, problems in health care, education, justice, opaque investments by the state or complicated regulations for entrepreneurs. Human rights and cases of abuse of power against minorities are also recurring topics, on which around 70 experienced journalists publish 20 to 25 articles every day. There is now also a Czech branch called Deník N.
