Sascha Montag

Freelance photographer

Sascha Montag was born in Halle/Saale. After graduating from high school, he traveled across the globe for a year.  Finishing his training as a social worker, he worked in various youth welfare projects in Berlin. At the same time, his passion capturing social stories with the camera developed more and more. He tought himself to get a photographer over time. Since 2002, Sascha Montag has worked as a freelance photographer for the German press agency dpa and since the end of 2008 for the reporting agency Zeitenspiegel. Previous publications include Spiegel, Stern, Die Zeit, Neue Züricher Zeitung am Sonntag and Süddeutsche Zeitung. In addition to that he worked also for organizations such as Bread for the World, Terre des Hommes, Unicef and Pro Asyl. Montag shot his first TV documentary for Arte Re: with filmmaker Carsten Stormer in 2018.
