Astrid Benölken is a German freelance journalist. She studied journalism in Ansbach, Hamburg and Columbia and has already worked for media outlets such as Süddeutsche Zeitung, Spiegel and taz. She especially likes to research stories from countries that are barely part of media coverage. And there she talks preferebly to people to whom hardly anyone has listened. Most recently she has been on research trips to Albania, Poland and Tanzania.
